"Where's my union?"

"I can't afford to work here."

That's what too many Martin County teachers  are saying while our wages fail to keep up with rising costs and when it's time to fight for real raises, MCEA is MIA.

We've gone two years without a contract which has allowed our salaries to stall and our health insurance premiums to skyrocket, leaving teachers with less money  in their paychecks each month.

Scott Crelin of Martin County High School is  just one of the hundreds of teachers feeling the pinch because of MCEA's failures. He says he actually "snort laughed" after hearing the media tout teacher raises last summer because he and his wife experienced a net loss after their district-provided health insurance costs shot up.

"I now work for less money than I got last year while the media keeps saying that I got a raise."

"I'm getting paid less, my wife is getting paid less, we can barely afford to work here, I'm teaching extra for no pay, and where's my union?"

If Scott's story feels familiar, you're not alone and it's time to do something about it.

We don't have to settle for MCEA's failures anymore. The United Teachers of Martin County is a new union made up of current and retired Martin County teachers just like you. We will fight for better health insurance, meaningful raises, and better working conditions. UTMC will make sure you have a contract every year before the school year starts and give you a voice in district policies that affect your classroom.

Nothing changes if nothing changes. It's time for a new approach and a new union that will fight for all of us. When you get your ballot, vote for the United Teachers of Martin County!
