We are teachers just like you

We are Martin County teachers who have been working by your side for years. We have seen firsthand how MCEA's failures hurt teachers. After years trying to solve these problems from inside MCEA, we finally said "enough is enough" and decided to form a new union.
The United Teachers of Martin County is a new union for all of us - one that understands what teachers need and will fight for what matters most.
Our priority is YOU
As an independent union, the United Teachers of Martin County will be able to dedicate 100% of its attention and resources to advocating for teachers. Unlike MCEA, we aren't beholden to a large bureaucracy in Tallahassee or Washington DC. Every dollar of your dues will stay local and be put to work fighting for you. This means we will be able to provide stronger support while charging less than MCEA.
What does that mean for you? It means you'll have a contract every year, before the school year starts, and you'll have a real attorney to negotiate the best possible terms for that contract. We'll fight for meaningful raises and better insurance. You'll have a real voice in district policies that affect your classroom. And with lower dues, you'll keep more of your hard-earned paycheck right from the start.
